Goed begin

Goh, wat is Oslo leuk zeg! De eerste indruk is in ieder geval heel positief. Het mooie weer werkt ook mee natuurlijk (maar morgen gaat het regenen…). Prima vlucht gehad, op Oslo centraal werd ik opgehaald door mijn huisgenootje, Lailai. En het klikt goed gelukkig! Een beetje geïnstalleerd in het appartement, en toen langsgeweest bij mijn stageplaats.

Nou inderdaad, mooie laan met villa’s (waar bedrijven in zitten, over het algemeen) in oude en nieuwe stijl, en maar 10 minuten lopen! Eigenlijk wilde ik alleen kijken waar het gebouw nou was, maar uiteindelijk heb ik me meteen maar voorgesteld daar. En ik werd heel leuk ontvangen, er hangt zo’n leuke sfeer binnen. Daarna nog even door omringende straten gelopen, weer lanen met villa’s en mooie appartementengebouwen, redelijk veel auto’s, fietsers op mountainbikes en helmen, wel druk maar niet toeristisch, heel apart.

’s Middags nog spontaan afgesproken voor een kop koffie met een jongen die ik kende uit Noord-Noorwegen omdat ik erachter kwam dat hij toevallig in Oslo was. Ook heel gezellig, en gelukkig gaat het (toch wat roestige) Noors me nog goed af. Ondertussen ben ik wel geïnstalleerd hier en ben ik aan het kijken waar alle voorzieningen zijn en hoe alles werkt.

ps, grappig: het ov-chipsysteem dat in Nederland gebruikt wordt, wordt ook hier gebruikt! Een enkeltje koop je bij de kiosk of chauffeur en in de bus/tram check je in met exact zo’n apparaat als in de connexxion-bussen.

English: 

Oslo is fun! The first impression is at least positive. Partly because of the good weather (though it is going to rain tomorrow). I had a nice flight and my flatmate, Lailai, picked me up from Oslo central station. We get along really well, thankfully. Installed myself a little in the apartment, and then visited my internship. I had actually only planned to take a look where the building was, but I got invited in and had a nice welcome. There is just a very nice atmosphere at my internship. Outside I walked a little on the streets, or… “lanes” actually, with nice buildings (both for companies and apartments), some cars, some bikers on mountain bikes with helmets, busy streets but not touristic, I like it. In the afternoon I spontaneously had a meeting with a guy I knew from Northern Norway, who just happened to be in Oslo today. We had a cup of coffee and thankfully my Norwegian, though rusty, still functions well. Meanwhile I’m somewhat installed here now, just looking around how everything in Oslo works and where everything is.

ps, a funny fact: the public transport chip-system we use in the Netherlands, is used here too! You buy a one-way ticket at the kiosk or driver and check in with your ticket at an electronic box that is exactly the same as the connexxion-busses we have.
